Sound Sports Net originated in Whidbey Island, Washington in 2012.
Out of the necessity of local sports coverage, SSN covered Oak Harbor High School, the flagship school of the network. Over the years, our presence extended throughout Washington State in coverage of WIAA State Championship events.
In addition, our presentation of youth sports in Northwest Washington has become a staple in our portfolio. Toward the end of the Fall, to feature the North Sound Youth Football Championships.
Also, coverage of NWAC Junior College Basketball, featuring the Skagit Valley College Cardinals. Men’s and Women’s Basketball. Full seasons, home and road, will be featured on SSN and the NWAC Sports Network. Our relationship with the Northwest Athletic Conference, the governing body of junior college sports in Washington, Oregon, and North Idaho, continues with the return of the NWAC Basketball Championships in March 2024 in Pasco, WA at Columbia Basin College.

The seven officials on the field are each tasked with a different set of responsibilities:
- The referee is positioned behind and to the side of the offensive backs.
- The umpire is positioned in the defensive backfield, except in the NFL
